NADRA or court?

NADRA Succession Facilitation Unit

Available in Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when all heirs agree and can be verified. Usually faster and simpler.

Civil court

Used when heirs disagree, the NADRA route is not available, or the case is complicated. The court publishes a public notice and decides after hearing everyone.

How it works from abroad

  1. Send the family details on WhatsApp. Death certificate, family tree and list of assets. The consultation is free.
  2. We advise the right route. NADRA or court, and which documents each heir needs.
  3. Heirs abroad sign a special power of attorney at the Pakistani embassy or consulate.
  4. We file and follow the application at NADRA or in the civil court, including the public notice and hearings.
  5. Certificate issued. We collect the certificate and help release the funds or transfer the property.

Documents you need

About the deceased

NADRA death certificate, CNIC copy, and details of bank accounts, savings or property.

About the family

Family Registration Certificate (FRC) and CNIC or NICOP copies of all legal heirs.

For heirs abroad

Passport copy and a special power of attorney signed at the embassy.

Shares under Islamic law

Each heir’s share follows Islamic law. Daughters, wives and mothers are legal heirs, and leaving them out can make a certificate invalid. We prepare the family tree and shares correctly from the start.

Succession certificate FAQs

Can I get a succession certificate while living abroad?

Yes. An heir abroad can act through a special power of attorney signed at a Pakistani embassy or consulate, and your advocate files and follows the case in Pakistan.

Should we use NADRA or the court?

In Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heirs who all agree can apply through a NADRA Succession Facilitation Unit, which is usually faster. If any heir disagrees, the case is complicated, or the NADRA route is not available, the application goes to the civil court. We tell you which route fits your family.

What if one heir is in Pakistan and others are abroad?

That is common. The heirs abroad sign powers of attorney, and the heir or advocate in Pakistan handles the application. For the NADRA route every heir must be verified, so we confirm how this will be done before you start.

What if an heir refuses to cooperate?

The NADRA route only works when all heirs agree. If an heir refuses, the application goes to the civil court, which decides after hearing everyone.

Does a succession certificate cover land and houses?

A succession certificate is for movable assets such as bank accounts, shares and savings certificates. For land and houses, heirs need an inheritance mutation or a letter of administration. We handle both.

How long does it take?

The NADRA route is usually quicker when all records are complete. A court case usually takes several months because of the public notice and hearings. We give you a realistic timeline after reviewing your family details.
